Mystery Men

Year: 1999

Why'd I Watch It?: I think Sarah showed it to me.

What's It About?: A bunch of wannabe superheroes that have to become actual heroes in order to save the city.

What'd I Think?: V. funny, to say the least. Great cast too, including William H. Macy, my fave. The clothing is all pretty amazing. The main point is, this movie is funny as hell and everyone should probably see it. Also, this movie had some sort of serious effect on me as a high schooler. I think that after the original Star Wars trilogy, this is the movie I have seen the most.

My Own Private Idaho

Year: 1991

Why'd I Watch It?: Assigned for my Shakespeare class.

What's It About?: A rich bad boy and his bff who's a rent boy in a sort of coming of age story.

What'd I Think?: Pretty good adaptation of Henry the IV & V. The Shakespearean dialogue mixed in makes it more interesting than some other adaptations. Falstaff and Henry V are the only characters that make close to a full transition from play to film. Keanu wasn't too bad.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Year: 2005

Why'd I Watch It?: Somebody didn't want to go to the theater alone.

What's It About?: These assassins are married to each other and antics ensue.

What'd I Think?: Woah. Lotsa action. Very, very funny. Never a dull moment, but the end was somewhat lacking in...I don't know...it was weird. But I liked it v. much. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have v. good chemistry and are v. good actors. I love them.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

Year: 1997

Why'd I Watch It?: Lounge decision.

What's It About?: Saving the world from space invaders.

What'd I Think?: I'm only vaguely aware of what happens in this movie. I think it involves ninjas and a chick in a cage? It was entertaining but completely forgettable.

Memories of Murder

Year: 2003

Why'd I Watch It?: Assigned for film class

What's It About?: A string of murders and the police assigned to the case to capture the serial killer.

What'd I Think?: Based on a true case in the 80s. This is a wonderful crime drama from Korea with excellent acting and real suspense. It's kinda super creepy.

Why'd I Watch It?: My dad wanted me to.

What's It About?: A family moves to New York from St. Louis before the 1904 World's Fair.

The Matrix: Revolutions

Year: 2003

Why'd I Watch It?: Last one, why not?

What's It About?: People in the real world fighting people in the real world, people in the fake world fighting people in the fake world, and people in the real world fighting people in the fake world.

What'd I Think?: Umm....no. It was better than I expected, but that's not saying a lot. I was quite unsatisfied by the second two parts of the trilogy I must say, how sad. Violence was a plus.

The Matrix: Reloaded

Year: 2003

Why'd I Watch It?: It was the next Matrix movie.

What's It About?: Oh noes, Zion's in trouble!

What'd I Think?: Wonderful effects and decent plot. Sucky character development.

The Matrix

Year: 1999

Why'd I Watch It?: I was told it was super badass.

What's It About?: The world is a big computer program but there are people who have escaped into the real world to fight back and this focuses on one such group helping a very important individual escape his fake life.

What'd I Think?: Great concept, great effects, pretty good acting. I was so obsessed with this movie for about three years. A cornerstone of modern sci-fi, unfortunately it had to be ruined by awful sequels.

Marie Antoinette

Year: 2006

Why'd I Watch It?: Sarah wanted to.

What's It About?: The opulent life of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France.

What'd I Think?: 2 hour Vouge shoot. Visually amazing. Soundtrack equally amazing. Other than that, not so great. Sad but true. Sorry, Sofia.
